小浜島のシュガーロード。両側にサトウキビ畑が広がるまっすぐに伸びた坂道で、この道を走行する軽トラックが2003年に発表された楽曲『軽トラックかりて』の源泉になっている。 ある時「ポっという感じだった」と、曲が産声を上げた瞬間を振り返る。歩きながらハミングするような、自然の流れで生まれたという。

４年前の春まだ浅き頃、池田さんの母・信子さんはがんのため78歳で亡くなった。池田さんは「自分がアーティストとして歌い続ける以上、母をテーマにした歌を作りたい」と強い決意を抱いた。「メロディーはすぐ降りてきた」。しかし歌詞がなかなか浮かんで来なかった。母親への愛慕が流れ続ける間、川面の泡のように浮かんでは消え、消えては浮かぶ感覚の中で、言葉が形を成したのは、メロディーが生まれてから４年後だった。数多い思い出のなか、母親が口にしていた「今度生まれて来る時はパーマ屋になりたい」という言葉をそのまま盛り込んだ。
