新しいお店
昔、美崎町でそば屋を開いていた店主の宮脇春枝さん。お客さんからそば屋の復活を求める声があり、この度「くわっちー食堂 春」をオープンさせることに。お店の特色は、何と言っても店内で作られる手打ちの生麺。独自の配合で作られる生麺はもちもちとした食感で、普段口にしているゆで麺とは違った食感が楽しめる。
徳村菓子店真後ろに、平得さんご夫婦が切り盛りする小さなパン屋がある。ご主人の守洋(もりひろ)さんの退職をきっかけにこのパン店を始めたそうで、店名の「もんろう」はご主人の昔からのあだ名なんだとか。もんろうでは、曜日によって異なるパンが販売されている。
店内はハワイをイメージしたトロピカルなデザインで、まるで海外に訪れた気分になる。V8Cafe Baysideでは石垣島のイメージに合った南国らしい料理を提供したいと考え、ハワイのローカルフード、ポキ丼を提供。
以前はストアーとして島の人に親しまれてきた場所で、新しく音楽教室がオープン。講師の喜友名夢野さんは沖縄本島で声楽の講師として勤務してきた傍ら、国内外で声楽家としてコンサート等に出演するなど多彩な経験を持つ。
The restaurant's pride and joy is the view of Ibaruma Bay that stretches out before it. The owner's wife, Chizuko, says that the relaxed pace of life and abundant nature that are unique to the north of the island make this place feel like heaven. It's a place where you can spend an elegant time watching the sea and sky change with the passage of time.
This restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere with the warmth of wood, and serves dishes made with ingredients from the island. At lunchtime, they mainly serve pasta and pizza. The authentic mini dolce dessert is also excellent!
Gorihazu, who was born and raised on Ishigaki Island and trained in Osaka for 24 years before returning to the island, opened a restaurant in August 2024! From the morning, you can eat your fill of delicious meals such as "grilled fish set meal," "soft and fluffy rolled egg set meal," "Yaeyama soba," and "juicy rice balls."
This is a sanshin specialty store that boasts the largest selection of sanshin in Ishigaki Island. Its wide selection and reasonable prices are its attractions. They only sell sanshin that have been processed in-store, and offer appropriate advice and comprehensive guarantees and after-sales service. For those new to the sanshin, we recommend the bargain "Challenge Sanshin Beginners 10-piece Set."

Relax in a luxurious space
"Seven x Seven Ishigaki", a hotel offering exclusive experiences that can only be enjoyed here, will open near Tadahama Beach in Maezato on Friday, September 9, 2024. This is the second hotel to open on Ishigaki Island, following "Seven x Seven Itoshima" in the Itoshima area of Fukuoka Prefecture.

#3 Sashimi Restaurant
When people from other prefectures start living on Ishigaki Island, they are often surprised. "Sashimi shops" are one of them. Fish shops on the mainland are called "fresh fish shops" or "sashimi shops" on the island, but locals affectionately call them "sashimi shops." Most of the shops are run by the families or relatives of fishermen, and there are thought to be more than 30 of them.

They decided to go out for drinks and went to a bar called Jongara in front of the station. As they sat at the counter, Katsuji Miyara (born 1956), who worked at the bar, was captivated by the accent they had.

私がこの碑を初めて見たのは2004年2月のことである。私はそのころ、台湾出身の芳沢佳代さん(1936年生)のところへしょっちゅう話を聞きにいっていて、このときは芳沢さんが運転する軽自動車の助手席に乗り、この碑を見にいったのである。なぜそうなったのか、いきさつは忘れてしまった。この碑を、私はいずれ日を改めて再訪してみるつもりでいたが、芳沢さんは2018年に亡くなり、案内を請うべき人を失ってしまった。
今年3月25日、石垣島に住む台湾出身の知人から思いがけないメッセージが届き、この碑のことを知る人にコンタクトできることになった。台湾出身2世のアレン張富美さん(72)である。富美さんの父、張反(1920年生)は、碑の建立者として廖見福とともにその名が刻まれている人物で、芳沢さんの兄に当たる。忘れかけていた碑の記憶がよみがえり、私は居ても立ってもいられなくなった。

The first typhoon has come, and although it feels like summer is in full swing, the weather is a bit cloudy with rain. I hope it will clear up soon. This month, there was a catch of giant eel, so we talked to him. This time's fishing is Yasumasa Kuroshima. He enjoys a wide range of fishing, including casting, egging, and jigging.

The record for the Ishigaki Island city fish, the red snapper, has been updated, so we spoke to him. This time, our fishing partner is Shigemasa Maedomari (57). He came to the island for work 17 years ago, and since he loves the sea and fell in love with the environment of Ishigaki Island, he has been living there ever since. He enjoys fishing, mainly egging. Around November last year, he started fishing for red snapper after accompanying his son on night fishing.

Is the language of Ishigaki an Okinawan dialect?
"Say something in the Yaeyama dialect!" If you are from Yaeyama, this is a phrase that you will have heard at some point in your life, or maybe many times. At such times, what would you tell people outside the island as the Yaeyama dialect? "Haisai" or "Menso-re"? No, in fact, neither "Haisai" nor "Menso-re" are words that our island ancestors actually spoke.

屋良部御嶽と廖見福
緑、青、夕暮れの赤。屋良部半島を訪れると、息を飲むような光景に遭遇することがある。
大崎には、この風景にアクセントを与えるかのように一基の記念碑が建っている。表には「屋良部村御嶽」、裏面には「屋良部崎開拓記念」とそれぞれ刻銘され、「1963年3月」という建立時期とともに二人の台湾人の名前も読み取れる。辺りには拝所や御嶽を思わせる建物は見えない。屋良部村御嶽とはいったいなんなのか。
