Ajidokoro Terukina is popular among locals. Its casual atmosphere makes it an appealing place to drop in, and it offers table seating, sunken kotatsu seating, and counter seating. During lunchtime, they offer a variety of set menus based on Japanese cuisine. You can enjoy reasonably priced meals such as tempura set meals and boiled fish set meals, and you can also order takeaway bento boxes such as eel rice bento and fillet cutlet bento.

A mobile beauty salon that will come to your home, a local community center, or any other location of your choice has opened in Ishigaki Island. The inside of the vehicle is equipped with the same facilities as a regular beauty salon, such as shampooing stations and mirrors, so even those who find it difficult to go out can receive the same services as at a beauty salon in a relaxed environment.

This photo studio caters to a wide range of needs, from fashionable, modern photos to traditional, proper photo studio style shoots. It places great importance on conveying the "value of photography," and will preserve this moment, which will only become more valuable over the years and decades to come, in the form of a precious photograph.

It has been 45 years since the store was established in Yaeyama. Based on the trust it has built up over the years, the "Southern Island Commercial Supermarket" is loved by many people, from local residents to tourists. The store offers a wide range of frozen foods for both commercial and home use. There are many products on offer, from unique products such as "Senbero," a beef tongue pack that can be purchased for 1,000 yen, to Ishigaki beef for gifts.

Our school has a wide range of students, from 4-year-olds to those in their 70s, some of whom compete in national competitions and others who just enjoy playing as a hobby once or twice a month.

The owner, Harue Miyawaki, used to run a soba restaurant in Misaki-cho. In response to requests from customers for a soba restaurant to be reopened, she decided to open "Kuwachi Shokudo Haru." The restaurant's distinctive feature is the handmade fresh noodles made in-house. The fresh noodles, made with a unique blend, have a chewy texture and offer a different texture to the boiled noodles you usually eat.

Directly behind Tokumura Confectionery is a small bakery run by Mr. and Mrs. Heidoku. The owner started this bakery when Mr. Morihiro retired, and the name of the bakery, "Monro," is his nickname from long ago. Monro sells different breads depending on the day of the week.

The interior of the restaurant has a tropical design inspired by Hawaii, making you feel like you are traveling abroad. V8 Cafe Bayside wanted to serve tropical cuisine that matches the image of Ishigaki Island, so they serve Hawaiian local food, poke bowls.

In 2014, the compass of Johei Nobuo's life changed dramatically. In April of that year, her father suddenly passed away from an aortic rupture. At the age of 20, Nobuo had moved to Tokyo with the aim of becoming a singer, but she decided to take over the family dry cleaning business and left Tokyo, where she had lived for about 13 years.

1979, Asagaya, Tokyo. Four high school classmates came to visit Masaya Nakamine (born 1957), a university student from Ishigaki Island. They decided to go out for drinks and went to a bar called Jongara in front of the station. As they sat at the counter, Katsuji Miyara (born 1956), who worked at the bar, was captivated by the accent they had.

私がこの碑を初めて見たのは2004年2月のことである。私はそのころ、台湾出身の芳沢佳代さん(1936年生)のところへしょっちゅう話を聞きにいっていて、このときは芳沢さんが運転する軽自動車の助手席に乗り、この碑を見にいったのである。なぜそうなったのか、いきさつは忘れてしまった。この碑を、私はいずれ日を改めて再訪してみるつもりでいたが、芳沢さんは2018年に亡くなり、案内を請うべき人を失ってしまった。
今年3月25日、石垣島に住む台湾出身の知人から思いがけないメッセージが届き、この碑のことを知る人にコンタクトできることになった。台湾出身2世のアレン張富美さん(72)である。富美さんの父、張反(1920年生)は、碑の建立者として廖見福とともにその名が刻まれている人物で、芳沢さんの兄に当たる。忘れかけていた碑の記憶がよみがえり、私は居ても立ってもいられなくなった。

#03 Doyo no Ushi no Hi Giant Eel
The first typhoon has come, and although it feels like summer is in full swing, the weather is a bit cloudy with rain. I hope it will clear up soon. This month, there was a catch of giant eel, so we talked to him. This time's fishing is Yasumasa Kuroshima. He enjoys a wide range of fishing, including casting, egging, and jigging.

#02 Taman (Hamafuefuki) New record
The record for the Ishigaki Island city fish, the red snapper, has been updated, so we spoke to him. This time, our fishing partner is Shigemasa Maedomari (57). He came to the island for work 17 years ago, and since he loves the sea and fell in love with the environment of Ishigaki Island, he has been living there ever since. He enjoys fishing, mainly egging. Around November last year, he started fishing for red snapper after accompanying his son on night fishing.

#01 Prefectural record set!
On March 5th, I arrived at the Hamasakicho point at 7am and started fishing. I used an original blend of bait and boiled krill. The morning was tough, so I cast far and wide and caught a good-sized fish, but I lost three fish and the line broke, so I changed to a thicker No. 5 line. After 4pm, when I was thinking about moving to another spot, I started seeing fish offshore.

屋良部御嶽と廖見福
緑、青、夕暮れの赤。屋良部半島を訪れると、息を飲むような光景に遭遇することがある。
大崎には、この風景にアクセントを与えるかのように一基の記念碑が建っている。表には「屋良部村御嶽」、裏面には「屋良部崎開拓記念」とそれぞれ刻銘され、「1963年3月」という建立時期とともに二人の台湾人の名前も読み取れる。辺りには拝所や御嶽を思わせる建物は見えない。屋良部村御嶽とはいったいなんなのか。
