Invitation
June. I received a book called "Poe Who Flew South" from Yoshikazu Takahashi. It was a handmade book with a warm feeling. The greeting card read as follows.
"Poe Who Flew South" was published in the coterie magazine "Gunpo" 40 years ago. It was a story about Poe the Turtle Dove carrying Genji's treasure (yellow dacara) from Azumino to Kurima Island in Okinawa. This time, I have significantly rewritten (100 pages of manuscript paper) the text of ten pages of manuscript paper. I also changed the place where he flew from Kurima Island to Hateruma Island, and made war malaria the subject. There is a scene where Poe the Turtle Dove who flew to Okinawa talks with Pease the Ryukyu Turtle Dove on Mabuni Hill. I had Pease the Ryukyu Turtle Dove say, "Why do humans fight wars that take lives? I don't understand." These are the words we need most right now. It is no exaggeration to say that the entire story unfolds because of these words. I thought it was meaningful to recall the tragic war experiences of the past and think about peace today, so I wrote about my hometown, Yaeyama, Okinawa. (Omitted)
An "Information about the reading session" was enclosed.
