With the end of the rainy season, the temperature has risen suddenly, and going to the beach to cool off in the evening is hot, humid and sticky, which is not very pleasant, but for big game anglers it is a sign that the season has arrived.
This month's Fishing Report is from Nozomi Urasaki. He caught a kamajigara, so we asked him how he caught it. Urasaki is a true angler who has been fishing around Shinkawa Fishing Port since he was an elementary school student. He is such a skilled angler that in the past he worked with his younger brother to catch a kamajigara weighing under 38kg.
At 11pm on June 24th, the temperature was around 27°C. In the midst of the extremely hot and humid weather, Urasaki started fishing at Sakieda Beach, which he had just happened to be visiting. The spot was a place where there were a lot of snags, but he had a feeling he would be able to catch a big fish.
The tackle was a bait with a bait guide, nylon line No. 50, and a hooked Muro No. 26 with a fresh bonito flake. However, even though I changed the bait overnight to fresh bait, I didn't get a bite until dawn.
Finally, at around 7:30 in the morning, the rod that hadn't moved a muscle suddenly bent. The moment I picked up the rod and set the hook, I felt its weight and felt its unique pull, so I was sure it was a gara. It was a powerful fish, so I fought it while being careful not to get it caught on the bottom. It gave in to Urazaki's power and quickly came up, and it was a kamajigara.
When it was weighed at the fishing tackle shop, it was 113cm and 20.65kg. The fish was served as sashimi with a coworker. Urazaki said happily, "This was the first time I was able to catch a galah by myself from the time it hit until it was reeled in, so it was quite a challenge."

August Fishing Information
In August, Ishigaki Island is a great place to catch taman with cast fishing and halfbeaks and rabbitfish with float fishing. Lure fishing with SUP or kayak, and fishing for tuna and bonito in a paya are also recommended. Summer vacation season is a time when many accidents occur, so please check for safety when fishing with your children. Be careful of typhoons and box jellyfish. Drink plenty of water to prevent heatstroke. Be sure to take home any trash you produce while fishing.
