The charm of Yaeyama seen through pointillism

A lover of living things and nature, he moved to Ishigaki Island more than 20 years ago. This is his first collection of works that brings out the charm of Yaeyama with a unique worldview created through pointillism. Each work is delicate and warm, and sometimes speaks to us like an illustrated encyclopedia, and sometimes like a picture book, making this a collection of works in a new style.

Itsuko Kumagai

Born in 1936. Graduated as a sculptor at Kanazawa College of Art. Worked as an illustrator and designer at Tokyo Nihonbashi Takashimaya, the Museum of Maritime Science, Toyota Memorial Museum, and other locations. After turning 30, he traveled to Central America and Southeast Asia. He has lived on Ishigaki Island for over 30 years. He creates his own unique worldview through pointillism, focusing on the flora and fauna of the Yaeyama Islands. All of his works are delicate and warm, and reveal the artist's personality.
