Megumi Yoneshiro
Born in Yonaguni Village (now Sonai, Yonaguni Town) in April 1941. After working as a reporter for the Ryukyu Shimpo and a copywriter for Recruit Co., Ltd. (Tokyo), he is currently a member of the Yonaguni Town History Compilation Committee, chairman of the Yonaguni Town Cultural Assets Protection Council, and chairman of the Yonaguni Place Name Walking Association. He has planned, written, and edited works such as "Yonaguni Town History Volume I: Photographic Record Yonaguni" (1997, Yonaguni Town Hall). He is also a co-author of "Okansen Yawa" (Co-authors: Kohagura Yasuyoshi, Shiroma Shigeru, Wakanatsusha). He has received the Okinawa Times Publishing Culture Award Special Prize, the Fudo Research Award (Japan Place Name Research Institute, Chairperson: Tanigawa Kenichi), and the Yaeyama Mainichi Culture Award.
